What is Dueling Nexus?

Dueling Nexus (also referred to as DNX) is an online, web-based, free to play Yu-Gi-Oh! Online game. Dueling Nexus offers both automated and manual play, supporting both the latest TCG, OCG, and Genesys formats, as well as retro formats such as GOAT, Edison, HAT, and more. It's a place where all Duelists can come together to play how they want, when they want.

The platform is a web-based simulator, meaning that no downloads are required. This also makes the game accessible across all devices, including PC, Mac, Android, iOS, and other operating systems that have access to a web browser.

In addition to this, the platform is frequently updated, with new cards being added regularly. All card images are available in high quality, and alternative variants such as Overframes and Manga arts are available as well. In addition to this, DNX features an in-game card rarity system, allowing players to apply animated overlays on their cards that simulate real-life foils such as Gold Rare, Ultimate Rare, Collector's Rare, and even the coveted Grand Master Rare.

Players can find matchmaking in real-time with other players in both Unranked and Ranked queues, or host their own Custom Games. Unranked matchmaking is available for Automatic TCG Single Games and Best 2 out of 3 Matches, Genesys Single Games, Edison Single Games, and Manual TCG Matches. Ranked Best 2 out of 3 Match matchmaking is available for TCG, Genesys, and Edison as well. Other formats, such as Traditional, OCG, OCG Genesys, GOAT, HAT, Charleston, and TOSS are available via Custom Games.

Players gain XP when Dueling, which levels up the free Battle Pass. The Battle Pass is used to unlock cosmetic content players can equip such as Avatars, Sleeves, Playmats, Portraits, Frames, and Titles. Contributors also gain access to Contributor Drops, monthly packages that feature exclusive artwork, as well as the ability to use custom Avatars and Sleeves.

Deck Building and Sharing

Dueling Nexus is a major Deck building and sharing platform as well. Players can build Decks for various formats using the built-in tools and extensive filters. Filters include:

  • Card Name
  • Card Effect Text
  • Card Type
    • Category, Ability, Attribute, Type, Level, Link Arrows, Attack, and Defense filters are also available for Monster Cards
    • Type is available for Spells and Traps
  • Effect Type
  • Limit
  • Cardpool
  • Before and After Date

With various Sort and Result methods as well, including a realtime search toggle.

Once a Deck is built, players can test it directly from the Deck Builder by launching into the Hand Test mode, which lets them try out combos and quickly reset the game state.

Once satisfied, players can change their Deck Name, set a Cover Card, add a custom Label, and choose whether to make the Deck private, share with link-only, or public. Public Decks will be published on the platform and give players a chance to state whether the Deck has a turn preference, a Playstyle, and a Difficulty.

Public Decks can be found through search engines, as well as the built-in Deck Browser, which features various filter tools to help players find Decks published by other players. When opening another player's Deck, players will even be able to modify them and add them directly into their account, with no need to share .ydk files or Deck Codes. The platform is built to be easy to navigate and use.

Custom Games

Dueling Nexus also has a custom duel feature, allowing players to create and host their own duels with customized settings. Players can host a custom duel and adjust the parameters for that game and share the link with others. By hosting a custom game, players have access to many different settings and can enjoy many different Yu-Gi-Oh! formats including Traditional, OCG, OCG Genesys, GOAT, HAT, Charleston, and TOSS. Other customizable settings include:

  • Public/private viewing
  • Single duel (1v1 single duel), Match (1v1 best of three, Tag (2v2 single duel)
  • Automatic/manual play
  • Master Rules
  • Banlist
  • TCG only or OCG cards
  • Turn timer
  • Starting hand size
  • Starting LPs

Once a player has adjusted the duel settings and the room is created, the link can be shared with others to join the duel. Custom games can be used to play alternative formats, duel with friends, deck testing, and more.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Maker

Dueling Nexus hosts its own custom Yu-Gi-Oh! card maker. Players create their own unique Yu-Gi-Oh! cards for fun and to share with others. The DNX card maker allows players to upload their own art, create their own card effects, alter card attributes, and download their finished product.

The DNX custom card maker supports Spell cards, Trap card, Monster cards, Skill cards, Link, Synchro, Fusion, Xyz, Pendulum, Ritual, Effect, Normal, Token, Utility, Rainbow, Monster ATK/DEF, Type, Attribute, Level, serial number, set ID. Any aspect of a Yu-Gi-Oh! card can be customized.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Manual Duels

In addition to offering automatic duels, Dueling Nexus also offers a manual mode. Manual duels are duels where it is the player's responsibility to activate and resolve all card correctly. This simulates what real-life duels are like better than automatic mode. Furthermore, it encourages player interaction making for a more fun experience.

When in a manual duel, there is an extra menu; along with the usual three options you have access to the "Manual" menu. This menu includes thing such as: being able to change your life points, adding cards from your deck to the hand, tossing a coin, and many more other features that all make for a smoother dueling experience.
