How to Play/Playstyle
I’ve been running this deck for a while, and on first turns, with the right card loadout, it’s pretty much unstoppable. Your main goal is to have either of your two main boss monsters, Marincess Coral Triangle or Marincess Great Bubble Reef, at the end of your turn with Marincess Battle Ocean supporting either of them and/or their effects (along with one or two traps, specifically Marincess Wave).
Simple, right? It sure is! But as straightforward as it may seem, your combos can be easily countered by negates and disruptions, so keep that in mind.
Boss Monsters
Marincess Aqua Argonaut – As I said before, this is your go-to card, especially on the first turn when you don’t know what your opponent is playing. While it’s in the Extra Monster Zone, your opponent’s monsters can only target her for an attack. During your opponent’s turn, it can special summon a Marincess Monster Card equipped to it to negate an activated effect.
Marincess Great Bubble Reef – A great go-second card, especially in an age where literally every deck banishes either monsters or Spells/Traps consecutively per turn. Each time a monster is banished face-up, the card gains 600 ATK until the end of the turn. It can also Special Summon 1 banished “Marincess” monster once per turn while also having the effect of banishing 1 WATER monster from your GY or face-up on the field and then drawing 1 card.
Other Great Cards
Marincess Battle Ocean – Increases the ATK of “Marincess” monsters by 200 ATK with an additional 600 ATK for each “Marincess” card equipped to it. And if a card was Link Summoned using “Marincess Crystal Heart” as material, it’s unaffected by the opponent’s card effects (A small detail that many combos don’t utilize, but it is probably the most important). Always great to see this card in hand; it makes most of your combos a lot easier.
Marincess Wave – While you control a “Marincess” Link Monster, you can target 1 face-up monster and negate its effects until the end of the turn. Then if you control a Link-2 or higher “Marincess” monster, all face-up monsters are unaffected by the opponent’s card effects until the end of the turn. If you have a Link-3 or higher “Marincess” monster, you can activate it from the hand. Great card to use at the start of an opponent’s combos to throw them off and give your monster(s) a bit of immunity.
Marincess Sleepy Maiden – A great card to either have in the GY or hand just in case for potential negates. You can Special Summon this card from your hand after targetting one “Marincess” card, and while it’s in the Monster Zone, the targetted card cannot be destroyed by the opponent’s card effects. Notice how it doesn’t prioritize just monsters, meaning you can use this on “Marincess” Spells and Traps as well.
Main Strategy/Core Combo
The main combo is getting a Link-4 on the field that equals to either “Marincess” Crystal Heart being included, Marincess Sleepy Maiden being in hand, and/or Marincess Wave being in the hand or field.
Whatever way you can, get a Level-4 “Marincess” monster on the field. You can use cards like Cynet Mining or Marincess Dive to accomplish that easily. After that, Link Summon Marincess Blue Slug and add a “Marincess” monster to the hand, preferably one that can be Special Summoned back onto the field. Using the second “Marincess” monster, Link Summon Marincess Sea Angel, then add a Spell, either Marincess Battle Ocean or Marincess Dive depending on your current hand. At this point, you can either summon Marincess Coral Anemone to Special Summon 1 Water monster from the GY or go for Marincess Crystal Heart, depending on your current hand. If you don’t have a way to get two extra bodies for a Link-4 into either Great Bubble Reef or Argonaut, just go from Anemone, plus the Special Summoned monster into Marincess Coral Triangle, retrieve Marincess Wave, then finish off with either of your boss monsters.
That’s the main way of starting things, but once you experiment with the deck, you’ll find even cooler ways to summon things and work around negates and opponents’ effects. For instance, I have an interesting trick regarding the Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju I’ve added to the deck. If you Kaiju their monster and then summon Worldsea Dragon Zealantis, you can banish all monsters on the field and regain control of Gameciel via its effect. As this deck is personal to me, some may not find the combo useful, so you can just trade that out for another Nibiru if you’d like.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed! And I can’t wait to see you all playing Marincess!
