The Egyptian god cards: Slifer, Obelisk, and Ra. Every Yugioh! player knows these three legendary monsters. Gods of unmatched strength and ferocity. Perhaps the most feared of these gods is Ra, the god card used by the malicious Marik Ishtar. And if you thought Ra was powerful before, this god has just become even more powerful! Introducing the new Yugioh Sun God archetype!
Reign of the Sun God

Each of the three Egyptian god cards have their own unique support cards, but Ra stands out above its peers. While The Winged Dragon of Ra already has its own dedicated archetype, Konami has just elevated the deity to a whole new level. Releasing in Glorious Victors, the new Ra archetype, Sun God, gives us a whole new way to play this iconic god card.
Marik’s Malicious Madness
The new Sun God archetype centers on Marik Ishtar’s maniacal monsters. The Sun God cards feature retrains of Gil Garth, Makyura the Destructor, Viser Des + Byser Shocker, Helpoemer, Lava Golem and more of Marik’s classic monsters. And, the boss of all of these cards is the big, bad god Ra himself in the form of the Fusion Monster: The Sun God of Darkness – The Winged Dragon of Ra. This all new form of Ra is a massive upgrade. It has the ability to return cards from the Field to the Hand, gain a massive amount of ATK power, and it’s even a Towers card that is unaffected by other card effects. And while it can be Fusion Summoned by using The Winged Dragon of Ra + 3 “Sun God” monsters, the intended way to summon it is with the new Spell The Immortal Sun God, which can summon the original Ra from your GY and then transforms it into the new Fusion Monster, but it is sent to the GY dueing the End Phase.
Gameplan
The Sun God archetype aims at using the effects of its Main Deck monsters to search out other cards from your Deck, send Ra to the GY, and then out the new Ra Fusion Monster to then clear your opponent’s board and attack them with the monster’s massive attack power. Many of the card have the effect to recycle themselves back into your Hand from the GY, as well. A mid-rage deck going first, but fairly powerful as going second deck. This archetype certainly boasts some impressive firepower, but it is unlikely to dominate the meta any time soon.
