What Else is New?

New Game Features

Various highly requested features have been incorporated into the game, including:

  • TCG SEGOC (Simultaneous Effects Go on Chain) has been implemented into the game, and will be used on all matches that use the TCG Banlist/Cardpool, including Hand Test mode and Play Vs AI. OCG SEGOC will still be in use when dueling with the OCG or OCG Genesys banlists.
  • All future game updates will automatically update player’s Decks to replace Beta ID cards with real IDs once those are changed. This means no more changing your Decks once sets are released.
  • A new feature has been added to allow players to save Decks from Replays directly to their accounts.
  • Hidden information being revealed by the game log to both players, such as those by the effect of Theorealize that should only reveal them to the player that activated the card, are now fixed.
  • Manga Artwork from the Original Artwork Collection set has been added into the game, joining Overframes as some of our unique card cosmetics.
  • Various changes and fixes have been done to the in-game Wiki. The wiki is now accessible by clicking on card names at the top, showing what sets cards are released in, related cards, and additional information!
    • In the future we plan to update this page further to show additional information, including card rulings.
  • The Deck Shuffling Animation on mobile no longer move the entire field, which previously caused a disorienting effect to the player.
  • Improvements have been made the lobby code which will prevent users from timing out due to inactivity, which previously caused issues with the Deckbuilder and Profile pages when they sat idle too long before being interacted with.
  • The in-game card menu no longer inverts when being opened towards the bottom of a card. Additionally, the menu will now persist even if the mouse is moved slightly away from it, improving the responsiveness of the UI.
  • English Strings are now used for all languages when native strings aren’t available. Previously, when playing in other languages without strings, they would show as [missing string], making it unclear what option was what. Please keep in mind if no English string is available, then the strings will remain blank, which mainly affects Beta cards.
  • Hints are now displayed if a card is affected by another card’s effect when hovering over it with your mouse (for example, when link summoning a monster with the effect of "I:P Masquerena", it will now show that the monster summoned cannot be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects).
  • Similarly, when a player is under the effect of a card such as "Time-Tearing Morganite", or "Fydraulis Harmonia", hovering over their avatar will display these effects. Please note not all cards may display this, due to issues with how they are scripted.
  • Replays are now saved for Manual Mode games.
  • Hovering the mouse over the Extra Deck will now display a written list of the contents of the Extra Deck, similar to what occurs when hovering over the GY or Banishment.
  • The Game Log will now properly display whether a card has been banished face-up or face-down.
  • An issue that made cards banished appear as "A Card" in the game log has been fixed, and will now display the card name properly.
  • An issue that made the game freeze when using an effect that declares card names like "Prohibition" in Retro Formats has been fixed.
  • An issue where cards banished face-down in Manual Mode did not properly display the card image has been fixed.
  • We’ve also released a slew of improvements to our manual mode. These include adding a new method for Xyz Summoning to attach materials on top of existing materials, fixing the “Shuffle S/T” function to no longer shuffle pendulums in the Pendulum Zone, no longer displaying the right EMZ’s stats inverted, no longer keeping the top card of the Deck revealed if the Deck is not shuffled after being viewed, properly logging when cards are revealed instead of displaying "A Card", and other related QOL fixes.

Mobile Deckbuilder Overhaul

The mobile Deckbuilder has been rebuilt from the ground-up to support Android, iOS, Chromebooks, tablets, and other devices! The following new features are included:

  • There are now three tabs in the Deck Builder – "Card", "Deck", and "Search". Players can easily switch between all three to view different related information.
  • Players can now drag and drop cards between the Main/Extra Deck, Side Deck, and outside bounds to remove a card. No more tapping cards to select a place to move them.
  • There is a new "Fullscreen" feature that removes the native mobile elements taking up precious space, allowing players to see their cards and decks better.
  • Players can now flip the screen horizontally to change into Landscape mode seamlessly, allowing all 3 tabs to be viewed similar to a Desktop experience.
  • Two finger gesture scrolling is supported in the "Deck" section, preventing accidentally card touches!
  • All changes also work with Tablets including iPads running the latest iOS and Safari versions.
  • Dynamic resizing supports switching between folding phone screen resolutions.

New Retro Formats Now Available

  • Support for Perfect Circle (Jan 2008 GX format), Tengu Plant (Sept 2011 early MR2 format), REDU (Oct 2012 MR2 format), Bird-Up (Jan 2022 MR5 format), and Justice Dimensions (Nov 2025 MR5 format) have been implemented! These popular Retro Formats join GOAT, Edison, HAT, Charleston, and TOSS in our ever-expanding library of Retro Formats for players to enjoy!
  • In addition, we have launched a new service, https://reduformat.net/, to help develop and support the REDU format in particular! We’re very passionate about this particular format and hope to nurture and grow its community.
    • This site features exclusive tournament sign-ups, deck checking, and automated bracket matching that all syncs up to your Dueling Nexus account using your player Token (found in player profile settings) to simplify the event process.
    • No discord account required to participate in events!
    • Rewards will be given to all participants through an in-site inbox system.
    • Keep an eye out for events in the events page, and check the growing leaderboards for top participants!
    • See event topping Decks and more.

Rush Duels Fully Supported

  • Prior issues regarding Rush Duels have all been addressed and fixed, making the game mode fully supported and playable within Dueling Nexus. This includes exclusive changes made to the game field to show the proper zones, and a new system to properly Maximum Summon monsters.
  • Issues with players drawing incorrect amounts of cards, Ritual Monsters not being properly added to the Extra Deck, Maximum Monsters having strange ATK values, improper Legend Card restrictions being enforced, and many missing hint text and strings have all been incorporated.
  • Matchmaking for Rush Duels may come in the near future! We’re hoping to see more interest in custom games first though, so if this is something you want to see, be sure to host some public matches!

What Comes Next?

We’re still hard at work to provide users with the best possible in-game experience, and are working on a few things:

New Lobby Rework

We’re completely remaking the game lobby to improve various features, including mobile responsiveness, fixing various UX issues, and generally making the site feel more cohesive as one platform. Changes will impact all pages, and will introduce various new features such as multiqueue support for matchmaking in less popular game modes, Deck Box customisation for Decks, Translations, Challenges, and much more. We look forward to sharing news of this project as it nears completion.

Display shown is still in active production, and will be changed as it develops.
