Dueling Nexus News

It’s finally here everyone! We’ve been working very hard over the last few months bring to you this major new version of Dueling Nexus- rebuilt from the ground-up with mobile compatibility, multilingual support, and so many new features I don’t even know where to start. My name is Sky, I am the Product Manager for Dueling Nexus, and let’s dive right into everything new coming with the new Dueling Nexus 3.0 Client that wasn’t previously mentioned in the last update post.

A New Experience

Upon loading up the new Dueling Nexus 3.0 client (currently in open beta), users will be greeted with a new splash page replacing the older utilitarian login screen. A lot of information and helpful links are displayed here, including the Public Deck Browser, Wiki, Card Maker, Tier List Maker, and more, with no login required to view these!

Upon logging in, players will find the new Lobby layout similar to the current one, just much more appealing. On the top bar, we’ve added various new pages and tabs. Running them through one by one, we have:

Duel Zone

We’ve improved the layout of the Duel Zone, adding information explaining every format and linking Sample Decks you can quickly save to your account to jump in and play without having to build a Deck.

Additionally, we’re adding a new Featured Queue, which is a queue of temporary unique game modes that are not usually playable even in Custom Games that gives Double XP. For the Beta Launch, we are currently hosting a TOSS Format queue, which will be replaced with a GOAT Format queue in December. Additional planned game modes for this queue include Highlander, Rivalry of Warlords, Structure Deck Duels, Heart of the Underdog, TCG Tag Duels, 0 Point Genesys, HAT Format, REDU Format, and many more!

Custom Games

Custom Games in particular received a major face-lift, improving the Custom Game Hosting filters to more clearly label each setting. On top of this, we added a new Undo Feature for use in Handtest Mode and Custom Games, which allows players to undo their last move.

For the Custom Game List, players can now quickly see different public Duel Rooms sorted by Banlist. Addition filters have also been added to help players find Manual Mode games or Games with specific settings.

Leaderboards

We’ve added ways to track various stats related to Ranked Modes, including:

  • My Stats, a collection of all prior Ranked data from all seasons across TCG, Edison, and Genesys. These include your final league, rank, rating, and win/loss record in prior seasons.

  • REDU Leaderboards, tied to the official REDU Format website, which syncs Leaderboard data from REDU Tournaments directly on the site, displayed alongside Ranked data.

Decks

We’ve vastly improved the UI of the Deck list page, now adding Deck Boxes as a new cosmetic option that is displayed. Deck Boxes can be customised per Deck, and will also appear in the Public Deck Browser. Additionally, players can now quickly copy the link to share Decks and launch Hand Test Mode from the Decks page without having to open the Deck. Finally, the ability to import Decks using YDKE URL and YGO Omega Deck Codes has been implemented, as well as a banlist filter to help sort through player’s Decks.

Additional features tied to Decks include Decks swapping between Pre-Errata and Post-Errata Cards through Banlist selection (no more swapping out cards manually especially after imports), being able to launch Hand Test Mode using older Master Rules based on Banlist selection, and additional Deck Sharing options for the Public Deck Browser.

Improvements have also been made to the Public Deck Browser, giving additional filtering options such as Banlist filter, Archetype filters, specific card filters, and user selected Tags.

New Top Cards and Top Archetypes Pages are available, offering a collection of data from Ranked TCG, Genesys, and Edison showing the most used cards and archetypes, their usage rate, win rate, ratios, season by season to see how Decks change over time.

Finally, we added a Card Search page, which is a quick way to filter through and find cards without having the Deckbuilder open.

Tools

One of the biggest new sections we’ve added, Tools adds a variety of useful and fun extras for players to work with, including:

  • Tier List Maker, a way to show off your thoughts on certain cards or archetypes, search, and share them easily.
r/yugioh - There's even a presenter mode!

  • Card Maker, a way to let users make their own cards to save locally and share. We plan to eventually overhaul this page to allow users to add Custom Cards to their own accounts, for use in Manual Mode.
  • YGOdle, a fun take on the Wordle minigame, YGOdle gives you 6 tries to guess a card based on its Card Type, Category, Type, Attribute, ATK, DEF, Release Year, and Original Release Set. Guess a card name, and see how much of it is right!

In addition to this, improvements were made to the Art Game (where you guess as many cards as possible within a time limit based on artwork displayed) and Naming Game (where you name as many cards as you can within the same time limit) to remove Tokens and other irrelevant entries.

We also are working on a Combo Planner Tool which will allow you to visually create and display combos using drag and drop controls, and browse public combos shared along with their associated Decks as a faster way to showcase lines and capabilities without having to rely on Replays.

Boutique

The Boutique has been overhauled, now displaying live timers counting down when items refresh. Additionally, over 90 Deck Boxes will be added soon for purchase with in-game Credits to customise your Decks.

Replays

The replay list has been overhauled for easier navigation, now properly displaying breaks between timeframes, displaying the involved players, and what Decks they used. Additionally, you can now filter replays by whether they were Ranked, Unranked, or Custom games, by specific player names, by game mode type (Single, Match, Tag), and by Banlist.

What Else is New?

Various new features have also been incorporated into the Main Game since my last post. A quick rundown, not including the above mentioned major features like Undo and Deck Boxes, include:

  • Meadowlands and AGOV Formats have been added as selectable Banlists in the Deckbuilder and for Custom Games, per popular request.
  • Alpha Cards, which are cards without scripts, are now available in the game, for use exclusively in Manual Mode.

  • Translations are now available (to varying degrees) in the Lobby, selectable in the User Profile on the top-right corner. All major UI elements in the Lobby will now be translated into Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. These are all human-translated strings too, no AI used!

  • Manga Card Artworks are available for all Original Artwork Collection cards, and support rarities.
  • Card PSCT is colour-coded, underlined, and separated with linebreaks for additional visibility. This can be toggled on/off in the Deckbuilder and mid-game through the Options menus.
  • Within the Deckbuilder, you can now Lock a card by pressing Shift or Left-Mouse Clicking on it without dragging. This prevents the display on the Left from changing when scrolling over cards. Additionally, you can use arrow keys to move between cards while they are locked.
  • Sort by Release Date filters available within the Deck Builder.
  • Quick “Add/Remove Copy to Main/Extra/Side” buttons added beneath cards.
  • The Game Log has vastly improved visibility and flow now, and is better colour-coded and organised.
  • The in-game Chat Box no longer overlaps with the Card Descriptions.
  • In Manual Mode, cards can be Middle-Mouse Clicked to Target them.
  • When your opponent Disconnects, a 30 second timer will appear counting down their return window before the Duel ends. You will be able to claim victory after 10 seconds if they do not reconnect. Disconnecting players will also no longer gain any XP.
  • Various issues related to Rush Duels have been fixed, and a special display for Maximum Monsters has been added.
  • The Mobile Deckbuilder had a complete overhaul, including the addition to drag and drop support**, landscape** support**,** and iOS support.
  • Card Hints, where available, will now display when hovering over a card when they gain additional effects, such as for example the effect of I:P Masquerena. Players affected by certain effects, such as Time-Tearing Morganite or Fydraulis Harmonia, will also display similar text when hovering over their Avatar.
  • TCG SEGOC has been implemented into the game, and automatically takes effect when playing with TCG banlists including Retro Format banlists.
  • Decks with Beta Cards will be automatically converted once those card’s IDs change, so players no longer have to adjust their Decks after updates.
  • Players can now save Decks directly from Replays to their Accounts. Please note Side Decks are not included when using this feature.
  • And many, many, MANY more unlisted bug fixes and QOLs (which can be found on our Discord’s Announcements channel for those curious)

What Comes Next?

While this new release marks a major milestone for the game, don’t think we’re done yet. As previously mentioned above, we’re still working on new features like the Combo Planner and Custom Cards for Manual Mode, and a whole lot more. Some upcoming features include:

  • Public Profiles, a major project we are aiming to work on in 2027, which will include the ability to display your shared Decks, unclocks, and stats all in one place, as well as adding the ability to send messages, friend requests, duel requests, and more within the site.
  • Challenges, an additional way to gain extra XP for the Battle Pass and Credits through completing repeatable daily and weekly challenges.
  • Tournament Hosting System, a platform that will allow players to create their own Swiss or Elimination tournaments using various Dueling Nexus systems, including automated matchmaking support, sign-up links within the site, automated brackets, and usage of in-game user data to automate everything. We plan to have this system work similar to the REDU Format website systems for a seamless and hassle-free user experience.
  • A Probability Calculator, either as an external tool or built within the Deckbuilder, to display various data.
  • Anime Cards and Duel Links/Speed Duel modes for Custom Games.
  • A rebuild in-game Duel client, with mobile compatability for Automatic and Manual Mode both in mind.
  • Various Manual Mode improvements, including shortcuts, component addition, stat editing, excavation feature, and more.
  • A Banlist Editor to allow players to make and share their own banlists, and use them in-game.

And so much more. This really is just the beginning of all the exciting changes coming to Dueling Nexus. We continue to be committed to making dueling accessible and easy for everyone to play how they want, where they want, on PC and on mobile both. Dueling Nexus is a game meant for everyone, and we welcome you all to give it another go if you’re curious to see how far that goes. And if you find something missing you really want to see? Just let us know. We’re always engaging with our community, especially over on our Discord Server.

If you are interested in helping us grow our platform, consider joining our team! We are currently looking to partner with Content Creators to promote our platform! We are in the beginning stages of development a referral system for partners, which allows their watchers and consumers to support them and gain exclusive in-game prizes while doing so!

Until then, I thank everyone for your continued support. You can access the new 3.0 client by visiting https://beta.duelingnexus.com/ . The site will remain in beta for the next few weeks to allow us time to collect feedback and fix any issues that come up before rolling this out to the main site. Please note the TOSS Queue is only available using the Beta site right now, so be sure to get in there and play while it’s still around!
