How To Play

Welcome to my Runick Stun Deck for 2023! After looking at some of the interesting support from DUNE (Duelist Nexus), we have some incredible new supports for archetypes like Purrely, Noble Arms, and Altergiest. However, the new Sleipner The Runick Mane got me interested in the “Runick” archetype, and after playing, I’ve got to say it’s pretty impressive.

If you’re new to the Runick field play, the most important thing you need to know is that your main goal is to be as annoying as possible. The “Stun” in Runick Stun helps with this prerogative by playing cards like Skill Drain, There Can Be Only One, and Gozen Match. However, that’s not all you’ve got, as the incredible “Runick” engine is just as efficient.

Your most important card is, without a doubt, Runick Fountain, and you can attest to its grandeur as it was recently semi-limited in the June Banlist. Regardless, it will be your main goal, if you didn’t draw into it, to get it onto the field so you can play the deck to its fullest potential. If you didn’t draw it, don’t worry because utilizing any of your “Runick” spells to summon Hugin the Runick Wings will allow you to add it to your hand at the cost of one discard.

Tip: If you have three “Runick” spells in your hand, use one to Special Summon Hugin, and discard a second “Runick” spell, while assuring the third can activate an effect afterward. On Fountain’s effect, that’s an effective way to get three extra draws on your turn; And if you draw into another Runick fountain, don’t forget it’s not a hard once per turn, so go for some extra draws if you have the cards!

The deck is pretty straightforward, with one of my favorite spells (besides Mikanko, of course) Time-Tearing Morganite, allows you an extra draw if you run into it during your duel, along with some other drawing spells for power.

Additional Deck info

Want to enjoy the deck in the TCG for right now? No worries! Trade out Sleipner for Gravity Controller, an excellent card for getting rid of Extra Deck Monsters in the Extra Deck Zone while not being able to be destroyed by Main Zone monsters!

Feel free to play around with the Side Deck to suit your tastes. Add Kaijus, D Barrier, etc. Remember that the deck is great at negations/interruptions, so the Side Deck shouldn’t have your only “Outs.” Even though it’s stun, you still need to use just a tiny bit of brain power for it to work.
