Dueling Nexus Gate Guardian Decks Lore OCG Off-Topic TCG Uncategorized Yugioh

Yugioh! is full of interesting and dynamic characters – heroes and villains alike! One pair of antagonists gave our heroes a run for their money – or perhaps a run for their Star Chips! That’s right! The Paradox Brothers! These two twin guardians posed quite a threat to Yugi and Joey, and even came back in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. But, who are the Paradox Brothers exactly?

Duelist Kingdom

We are first introduced to the Paradox Brothers in the Duelist Kingdom arc of the anime. This arc revolved around dueling on an island and earning Star Chips to progress through the competition. Hosted by Pegasus, this competition was always more than it seemed on the surface. And, literally under the surface, in an underground chamber, the Paradox Brothers laid in wait for any challengers. You see, Pegasus hired these two twin brothers, Para and Dox, to stop Yugi and Joey from entering the castle. And they nearly succeeded in this!

The Paradox Brothers, known as the Labyrinth Brothers in Japanese, were formattable opponents. The Brothers challenged Yugi and Joey to a Tag Duel, something the Brothers were very skilled at. Para and Dox played a devastating strategy, both of their decks built to play off of each other. They even played Labyrinth Wall to change the Field into a maze. Their decks worked together to bring out the massive Gate Guardian. Their strategy almost worked, but Yuges and his buddy from Brooklyn were not giving up!

Teamwork!

Joey and Yugi are best friends, and their friendship allowed them to duel well together. When the Brothers has them on the ropes, Yugi pulled off a suprise Fusion. He used Polymerization on his Summoned Skull and Joey’s Red-Eyes Black Dragon to Fusion Summon Black Skull Dragon. Joey then turned the Brothers’ own Riryoku against them. This combination overpowered Para and Dox, and these friends won the duel. They were able to pass through to Pegasus’ castle after outplaying and outsmarting the Brothers. But the Brothers would later make an appearance in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX in a similar role. Dr. Crowler hired the twins to Tag Duel Syrus and Jaden. The Brothers has gotten even better, but they were still defeated by the friends.

Upgrades

As you know, the Paradox Brothers used Labyrinth cards and the pieces of Gate Guardian in their decks. But, did you know the cards they used received an upgrade? Gate Guardian and its parts have been retrained into Gate Guardians Combined and three other Fusion combinations. A Field Spell version of Labyrinth Wall called Labyrinth Wall Shadow was introduced. And we were also given Labyrinth Heavy Tank, Shadow Ghoul of the Labyrinth, Riryoku Guardian, Double Attack Wind and Thunder, Dark Element, and Prey of the Jirai Gumo.
