When it comes to retro or classic Yugioh! formats, there are tons of options to choose from! Some popular formats are TOSS, Edison, HAT, and Goat, to name a few. These are all great alternative formats with their own followings. Another alternative Yugioh! format that is once again gaining in popularity is Perfect Circle. But, what is Yugioh Perfect Circle format and what is is all about?
The FOrmat
The format known as Perfect Circle is the version of the game that played roughly between September of 2007 to February of 2008 just before Phantom Darkness was released. The format gets its name from the leading deck at the time, a build that used a Destiny HERO draw engine, Monarchs for disruption, and Light and Darkness Dragon for control. This highly competitive format is praised for its methodical gameplay, deck balance, skill level, and resource management. Some of the notable additions to the game include Foolish Burial, Dimensional Prison, and Trade-In. Not to mention the Gladiator Beast archetype!
The Decks
As mentioned above, the leading build of Perfect Circle was a Destiny HERO + Monarch + LaDD, but there are tons of other decks that are a popular choice for the format. Some of the more common decks include, Six Samurai, Volcanic, Cloudian, Gravekeepers, Counter Fairy, Gadget, several different Baboon builds, Demise, Gladiator Beast, Monarchs, and many more!
