Tag-Team Dueling
Tag Duels, sometimes called Tag-Team or 2v2 Duels, are duels in which two teams of two play against each other, rotating turns between all four players. The official TCG Tag Duel Rules as of August, 2013, set LPs at 160000 for each team. Each team of two players share their board, cards on the Field, and the GY. Players do not, however, share hands, decks, or Extra Decks. Players can discuss strategy and plays together, but only as long as the other team can hear them. Other than this, the rules are basically the same to TCG. It’s a fun way to experience the game!
Tag Duels in the Anime
The very first time a Tag Duel appears in the Anime is when Yugi Muto and Joey Wheeler duel the Paradox Brothers. In the original series, there was also a 2v1 duel with Yugi and Mokuba vs. Dartz; and a 3v1 with Tristan, Serenity, and Duke Devlin vs. Nezbitt. The Paradox Brothers would appear again in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX in a Tag Duel with Jaden Yuki and Syrus Truesdale. Syrus Truesdale would team up again with Tyrano Hassleberry in a Tag Duel against Frost and Thunder, but this duel used different rules from other anime Tag Duels. Tag-Team duels would appear later in 5Ds, ZEXAL, Arch-V, and Vrains. There are even some anime exclusive cards designed exclusively for Tag Duels.
