The game of Yu-Gi-Oh! has been around for 25 years! And over the years the game has changes, evolved, and expanded. New cards, new mechanics, and new formats! The newest Yu-Gi-Oh! format is Genesys! Released in September 2025, Genesys is the newest way to enjoy modern Yu-Gi-Oh! but with a classic twist! This format uses the original game field with no Extra Monster zone nor Pendulum zones. No Link or Pendulum monsters allowed! But, other than Link and Pendulum all other cards are legal. However, Genesys uses a point system to grade cards. The standard point max is 100, but any tournament or event can change this ceiling. The point system limits which cards you can use together, and this encourages creative deck building. Genesys has been highly anticipated, and it has been living up to the hype!
